EVENTs calendar,
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES & FUNDRAISERS

Why we share event and fundraiser information

“I don't believe in charity. I believe in solidarity. Charity is so vertical. It goes from the top to the bottom. Solidarity is horizontal. It respects the other person. I have a lot to learn from other people.” - Eduardo Galeano

Solidarity grows when people
act in solidarity. Growing relationships does take time but can't be done unless people meet. Here in Manitoba we live among Indigenous communities that are thriving and actively organizing.

The events, initiatives and fundraisers listed on the site have been shared by Indigenous community members and/or solidarity groups, and/or were listed in public postings.   We list many different kinds of events and fundraisers - from art shows to author talks, community gatherings to marches, demonstrations and more.

Not all events and gatherings happening in Winnipeg will necessarily be listed on this page (we know we won't hear about everything).

This site is based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba on Treaty 1 Territory and the traditional lands of the Red River Métis. Groundwork for Change is a website only. It is not an organization.  You can read a copy of the original intention and vision for the site here.  Visit ABOUT THIS SITE to find out more about the site and its goals.  All work on the site is done with volunteer labour.
